With a Personal Touch...

One of my favorite hobbies is scrapbooking {just in case you did not know that already}. But it requires a lot of time... something that I have not had much of lately, lol. So in an effort not to abandon this gift, I try and incorporate it into whatever project or event that I am doing at that particular moment.

In this case I created a mini scrapbook for my bff. It contained pictures of all of her bridal showers. She was gifted with it on her wedding day.

Here is an upclose shot of it.....

She used their initials on all of their paper goods throughout the wedding; so I thought it would be neat to carry it over to the bridal shower scrapbook as well.

What is your favorite hobby or passion? How do you manage to incorporate it into your life even when the time does not permit? Do you feel that it gift giving is just a little bit more special when you add a personal touch?

The Creation Station

Today, I will attempt to catch an earlier flight back home so that I can make it home in time to attend a bi-weekly crop at my LSS... I am sick of the ice and snow here in Virginia... Living in this area is sooo {not for me}. I am a true southern belle...

I really, really want a scrapbook room. I mean I have one, but I want an official one complete with all the bells and whistles. I think that I will add this one to my list of 30 things that I want to do before I am 30, but with a few stipulations though.... {Wait... would that make it 31 things?} LOL!!!

1. The room must be cost efficient--- We are in a recession and I do not
necessarily want to break the bank on a {scrapbook room}. As bad as I
need one!
2. All the furniture must be white... Don't ask me why... I just want it that
way...
3. I must complete the project by the end of 2009.

I will keep you posted on this project as I transform my current creative corner into a regal scrapbooking room. Here my inspiration:

I like the way that she used patterned paper to line the drawers in the plastic containers. I think that it was a very cost effective way to carry out her theme throughout the room.

The color combo of this scrap space speaks creativity...

The following scrapbook rooms were found on the Michael's website. The first one is the U-shaped room. I really like the idea of the U-shaped working area, but I am not completely sold on everything else...

I really like this large craft room... Maybe with a U-shaped desk... Ummm, that's an idea.

Here are a few others...

I will continue to keep my eyes and my mind open for other sources of inspiration.

Have a great weekend and do something cr8tive!!!!

Love Notes

Last year I ran across these in the Dollar Spot at Target for $1 and {oh} I fell in love at first sight. They are too cute! I managed to get a pink and a silver one this year. For those of you who are 2009 brides and you are wondering how in the world these little cuties tie into your wedding plans.... Well, let's say that these {cuties} will keep love in the air all year long... LOL! You can use these to leave each other little {love} notes and gifts whenever you feel the need. When you are done just raise the arm to let your {sweetie} know that he has mail!!!

I created two of these last year for Mr. F-A-B-U-L-U-O-S and I. I will post pics later. Until then... enjoy!

Giving the Gift of Creativity

I recently had surgery and my lovely mother came to take care of me. When I started to feel better, I wanted to scrapbook. As I scrapbooked, I noticed that my mother became totally engrossed in what I was doing. She watched as I cropped the photos, designed layouts, and embellished my newest creations.

Later that day, while she was out shopping for me, I put together a basket of brand new scrapbook items for her. When she returned, I gave it to her and the joy on her face brought tears to my eyes. She could not have been happier. She immediately started scrapping about all the wonderful things that God has done and is doing in her life. Her opening page was entitled, "I Don't Mind Waiting."

I watched as she carefully arranged her pictures and embellishments on the page... She looked up at me and said, "I have somewhere to release my thoughts now... to share my passions and to express my views in life... I like scrapbooking because there is no wrong way to do it... You just let what is already inside of you flow out onto the pages."

I think that I gave my mother one of the best gifts ever... The gift of creativity!
