The Creation Station

Today, I will attempt to catch an earlier flight back home so that I can make it home in time to attend a bi-weekly crop at my LSS... I am sick of the ice and snow here in Virginia... Living in this area is sooo {not for me}. I am a true southern belle...

I really, really want a scrapbook room. I mean I have one, but I want an official one complete with all the bells and whistles. I think that I will add this one to my list of 30 things that I want to do before I am 30, but with a few stipulations though.... {Wait... would that make it 31 things?} LOL!!!

1. The room must be cost efficient--- We are in a recession and I do not
necessarily want to break the bank on a {scrapbook room}. As bad as I
need one!
2. All the furniture must be white... Don't ask me why... I just want it that
way...
3. I must complete the project by the end of 2009.

I will keep you posted on this project as I transform my current creative corner into a regal scrapbooking room. Here my inspiration:

I like the way that she used patterned paper to line the drawers in the plastic containers. I think that it was a very cost effective way to carry out her theme throughout the room.

The color combo of this scrap space speaks creativity...

The following scrapbook rooms were found on the Michael's website. The first one is the U-shaped room. I really like the idea of the U-shaped working area, but I am not completely sold on everything else...

I really like this large craft room... Maybe with a U-shaped desk... Ummm, that's an idea.

Here are a few others...

I will continue to keep my eyes and my mind open for other sources of inspiration.

Have a great weekend and do something cr8tive!!!!

First Dance

Peter Jones the owner, director, choreographer and trainer at Ballroom NYC and Ballroom Wedding Dance Studios have been teaching couples to dance for weddings since 1992. His belief is that, "If you can walk, you can dance!" I sure can walk, but dance... that is another story:)! {Only with the help of the Holy Spirit}

So with that being said, will you be chorographing your first dance or will you just go with the flow???

Okay, We are Back On Track: Wedding Reception Back Drops

I had a really busy weekend... it was one filled with lots of God, glitz and glamour. Can you think of a better combination??? :)

So after attending the {I'm Free Women's Conference} on Saturday morning and watching the 2009 Miss America pageant later that afternoon... I could not wait to attend the bridal show on Sunday.

I wish I had some pics to post here, but I was so excited that I only got one picture and that one was of a wedding backdrop... It just had me in complete...awe!

It looked similar to this one, but more elegant....

In the process of looking for one remotely close to what I saw, I found these...

I think that backdrops add a touch of elegance and class to your wedding if they are done properly. Will you have a backdrop on your big day... If so please share your inspiration.

Warning: There is a Shifting in Subject Matters... This is not wedding related....

This weekend after attending a eye opening women's conference, I settled down to watch my superbowl... Miss America....

While the pageant was quite entertaining (any pageant is fun for me... it could be Miss Sweet Potato); I have come to the conclusion that Miss America pageant is beginning to lack its luster...

I know... I know... My days of being a pageant competitor are long over (and I don't wish them back), but there is something different about the Miss America pageant system. Ummm..... I choose not to go there... Okay, since you forced me I will...

I was really pleased with this year's 1st runner up... Chasity Hardman. In my opinion she should have won, but obviously the judges and I were looking for somthing totally different.

I long for the days past when the girls really strived to make a difference in their schools, their communities and their country...

I long for the days past when the girls really participated for the scholarship money and actually used it to further educate themselves...

I long for the days past when Miss America was so real, so touchable, so relatable...

Maybe they will get it together someday America.... Until next time...

Alternatives to Wedding Guestbooks: Option #2

For those of you who still like the idea of wedding day {book}, I present to you Option #2... The Adesso Wedding Photo Guest Book.

These photo guest books can be personalized for your special day. According to theweddingchannel.com, they are a unique "marriage" of a photo album and a guest book. From the time you arrive at the church to the time you leave the reception, the events of the wedding day are a blur for most brides and grooms! With Adesso Wedding Photo Guest Books, you can take the memory of your special day with you on your honeymoon in a photo album and guest book combined!

One of the pros of choosing this option is that this will be a great way to capture a photo as well as the thoughts of your guest on your special day. It is also a great way to engage your guest as they are waiting for your arrival. It's a win/win situation!

On the other side, finding a polaroid camera can be quite challenging and according to the number guest that you are having the film for this can get a bit pricey. An alternative to that could be to print pictures from a digital camera on the spot... It just depends on how well you like the idea...

At any rate, I have to admit that a unique, Adesso Wedding Photo Guest Book to gives you the opportunity to relive your special day instantly and for years to come!

Alternatives to Wedding Guestbooks: Option #1

Wedding guestbooks are becoming very old fashioned and creative alternative "guest book" projects are now becoming the pereference for the 2009 brides. Yes, you want to keep a record of those who celebrated with you or maybe to send out heart felt thank you notes, but are their options that will allow you to collect this information accurately and creatively???? {You don't have to have guest book to collect information to send out thank you notes... just use the labels from the gifts and the address list that you used to send send out your invitations}. So with that being said...the answer is yes, there are other options and I want to present to you Option #1.....

Wishing Tree/ Guest Tree

The Wish Tree is a Dutch wedding custom where guests are given a piece of paper, either shaped like a leaf or made of card stock. The guests write their wishes to the bride and groom and then hang it on the tree.

This idea combines the idea of a guest book and a "best wishes" guest area. A Wishing Tree is a potted, "indoor" tree that will feature paper "ornaments" which contain guest’s best wishes to the couple.
